Manhattan Scholarium founder Jennifer Dziura is a professional smart person who likes to help.
Jennifer has perfect scores on the GRE and SAT, and a 780 on the GMAT (including a perfect 51Q). She is the author of two sets of GRE flashcards, the lead author and editor of The 5 Lb. Book of GRE Practice Problems, the author of Foundations of GMAT Verbal, and co-author of or contributor to numerous other test prep, debate, and logic books.
She has also appeared in two television pilots about "geniuses," as well as in an inspirational spot on the Oprah Winfrey Network. She has worked as a consultant to NYC's local PBS station on making algebra fun, and has written humorous logic exercises for Pearson's Introduction to Logic 14th Edition and a booklet about debate for Dewar's Scotch. In her previous position at Manhattan Prep, she led the writing of a 27-hour GRE curriculum. So far in 2014, she has spoken at Harvard, Barnard, and JP Morgan. In her spare time, she co-hosts the Williamsburg Spelling Bee, a real, adult spelling bee in Brooklyn.
Most importantly, she has over a decade of experience in the test prep world, and has helped over 2,000 students reach their educational goals. She has helped students get into high school at Stuyvesant and Dalton; into undergrad at Stanford, Michigan, Dartmouth, Columbia, Wellesley, and Yale; into business school at Wharton, HBS, Fuqua, Kellogg, and Stanford, and into grad schools including the Kennedy School at Harvard. She has spoken at university clubs and the New York Public Library on "Getting Into Top Colleges."
Jennifer studied philosophy at Dartmouth College and later went back to school for a Masters in Education focusing on using research into the brain to enhance teaching and learning. Jennifer is passionate about collaborative learning environments, social learning, getting up and moving around and otherwise respecting the fact that we live in human bodies, and using an effective mix of technology and old-school learning tools that you can touch. She believes every student deserves a caring, empathetic teacher.
As the first person in her family to attend college, she understands the struggles of people who are trying hard to succeed.
